Meet the Governors
Our School Governing Body
Governors are a voluntary body of people who guide and support the strategic direction of the school. They are members of the school team and their contribution to the running of the school is highly valued.
School Governing Body
The instrument of government states that the governing body shall consist of:
- 7 *Foundation Governors
- 2 Parent Governors
- 1 Local Authority Governor
- 1 Staff Governor
- 1 Headteacher
*Foundation Governors are appointed by either the Parochial Church Council or Diocesan Board of Education
Each Governor will serve for an initial term of 4 years.
The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:
- Set the aims and objectives for the school
- Set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- Set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
- Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
- Be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)

Our Structure
Our Full Governing Body meet once a term.
Each committee meets at least once each term.
All Governors are a member of either the WaC or the FPP committee
We also have two additional committees:
Finance, Premises and Personnel (FPP) this committee monitors all aspects of school spending to ensure good financial management. It approves budgets and spending set for the year and oversees any capital spend projects.
Wellbeing and Curriculum (WaC) this committee monitors all aspects of the school curriculum and welfare. Overseeing the school’s contribution to pupil and staff wellbeing, including the extent to which pupils feel safe, adopt healthy lifestyles and contribute to the school and wider community. It monitors pupil achievement, ensuring the school provides a high-quality learning experience, delivering a broad and balanced curriculum in keeping with the school's aims, pupil and staff needs and legal requirements.
There are also panels that meet as required to deal with matters such as Admissions, Recruitment, Performance Management, Staff Dismissals, Pupil Discipline, Complaints and Appeals.
Our Priorities Over the next 12 months, the Governing Body and committees will continue to work closely with staff to:
- continue to develop consistency and systems throughout the school
- further develop the learning area in school to ensure creativity and independence
- ensure progress from starting points for all learners
- develop the curriculum with all stakeholders
